About the Dance Company
The MEAI Dance Company is the performance group affiliated with Middle East Arts International (MEAI). MEAI Dance Co. draws from a legacy of theatrical Middle Eastern dance to create artistic and creative group choreographies for stage. While the performances are deeply rooted in the Middle Eastern dance form known as “raqs sharqi” or “danse orientale,” the ensemble frequently invites the participation of guest choreographers and performers from diverse backgrounds in ballet, jazz, modern, tap and hip hop dance disciplines. MEAI Dance Co. performs at large scale theater and festival events in the U.S. and Canada, and has been invited to perform in Argentina. The principal dancers are also accomplished solo dance artists.
